Bolgatty Palace

Bolgatty Palace is owned by KTDC, Kerala government’s tourism wing. It is a luxury heritage hotel located on the Bolghatty Island, off Kochi’s waters. The mansion was originally built by Dutch traders in 1744, and was leased to the British in 1909. It is the oldest of its kind that exists outside Holland. It served as the British residency till 1949.

The hotel itself stands amid a nine-hole golf course established in 1923. The island faces the Vembanad backwaters and the hotel with its private jetty is a host to many boat cruises. The island is situated to the spot where an international marina and yachting berth is coming up. There are four palatial suites for guests. The environs, the cool wind from the sea and the beautiful nature around you will e entrancing. The hotel has good facilities – an Ayurveda centre with rejuvenating therapies and massages, a recreation room with billiards, chess and cards. There’s a library, hammocks and hanging cots for tourists. The spacious lawn can be used to host parties, wedding receptions and functions.

Many local and migratory birds make their homes in the trees on the premises. The port of Kochi and the harbour is only a boat trip away. You can watch fishermen leaving for their early morning catch or in the evening, them working with the Chinese Fishing Nets. Take a day to visit Fort Cochin and Mattancherry.
