Bolghatty Palace

The historical palace is located on the Bolghatty Island just off the coast of Cochin, in the Vembanad Lagoon. The Dutch built the Cochin Bolghatty Palace in 1744. It was later converted into its current form by the British an was used as the home of the British Governors. Bolghatty Palace is preserved in its best form and is maintained by the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC). The area has now been converted into a heritage hotel and has a beautiful golf course amid stunning surroundings. The backwaters here provide for great boating. A yachting berth is being built nearby. The place has a quiet laid-back charm. The palace building has two stories which are well decorated with wooden furniture and murals. The hotel has different suites to cater to the different tastes of its guests and offers deluxe and luxury accommodation. The honeymoon cottages in the island besides the backwaters are just worth it! You can watch groups of canoes manned by local fishermen passing by in the evenings, or catch sunset with your beloved.
