Hill Palace
This 18th century Kochi palace is a major tourist attraction in Kochi .Situated in Thripunithura, it was the headquarters of the Kochi Royal Family. It is built on a hillock and was the summer residence of the Kings of Kochi. It now houses interesting antiques and collections. The premises also has a deer park and a museum.
The architecture of the palace is typically Indian, with minor western influences. The wooden carvings and paintings tell us a lot about art patrons and enthusiasts that the Kochi rajas were. There’s an interesting escape hatch leading to a tunnel used by the king to escape in case of emergencies.
